Message Shalom! Welcome! To the B'nai Shalom Web Page. It is hard to say if this is what Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Rebecca, Rachel, and Sarah had in mind, but it certainly is a wonderful way to communicate. I do believe that even though technology is advancing by leaps and bounds our forbears left the Jewish people wonderful traditions, laws and ethics to live by, and a fabulous history to hopefully learn from. This of course is what the fabric of B'nai Shalom is all about. Recently, we had a theme for a membership drive- "Warm, Friendly, and Family Oriented." This I believe personifies the membership and professionals of B'nai Shalom. This warmth and caring are one of the synagogues greatest assets. While on the subject of great assets I should mention our Rabbi, Stanley L. Asekoff. A rabbi who is truly loved and revered by all of the members- young and old and in between. He has been our rabbi for over 25 years. Rabbi Asekoff has been with his congregants in joyous and sad times and always has acted professionally as well as compassionately- a true spiritual leader. If perhaps you have browsed through our web page one can see we are an active and vibrant congregation with so much always going on. There is a wonderful nursery program, an award winning religious school, adult education programs some on going and special programs, our senior citizen group called the Chazak, there are a myriad of youth programs including Shabbat programming for all ages up to and including teens as well as similar programming for many of the holidays. There are social groups for the youth - a USY group, Kadima, and just newly starting a 45 club for 4th and 5th graders. I am very proud to announce the teen Torah readers group who very often read Torah in the sanctuary on Shabbat. We stay in touch with our college congregants by sending special care packages and mailings for the holidays. We have a very active sisterhood and men's club, a family education which plans events with the entire family in mind such as the up coming screening. Please join, participate, volunteer, and get involved at B'nai Shalom. I would very much like to hear from you with comments, suggestions, or ideas. SHALOM, Bonnie Kessler
