Social Action

Mitzvah #23 - Bringing food to the Needy

The B'nai Shalom Social Action Committee was formed to create hands-on outreach projects that would benefit less fortunate neighbors in our community.

To accomplish our mission, we focus on collecting food and clothing for a variety of charitable causes that include a camp for kids with cancer in Pennsylvania, and a number of local food pantries. In addition, we host a soup kitchen twice a year at a local church in West Orange, where we serve freshly cooked meals to as many as 150 patrons.
